Air France staff based at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) announced strike action from July 29 until August 6.

Heavy rain flooded some areas of Vienna International Airport on July 30. Flight operations have been temporarily suspended, causing flight cancellations and delays.

Severe weather conditions caused hundreds of flight cancellations and flight delays at several northeastern US airports on August 2. The following airports were particularly affected:

LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
Newark International Airport (EWR)
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)

Heavy downpour and flooding in the northeastern and upper central parts of Thailand are causing delays in mail operations and transportation. Delivery of all postal items is affected in the postcode areas: 33xxx, 34xxx, 37xxx, 40xxx, 41xxx, 44xxx, 46xxx, 47xxx, 48xxx, 49xxx, 64xxx, 65xxx, 66xxx and 67xxx.

Taiwan, China

Typhoon Nesat made landfall in Taiwan’s Yilan county on July 29, causing flooding, landslides and widespread power outages. A second typhoon, Haitang, made landfall in Pingtung county on July 30. Hundreds of flights from and to Kaohsiung International (KHH) and Tainan (TNN) airports were canceled or delayed. Nesat reached China’s southeast Fujian province on July 30; the highest typhoon alert has been issued for south-eastern China.

Heavy rains in Panama have resulted in flooding and landslides in the central provinces of Colón, Panamá Oeste, and Veraguas as of August 1. Continued storms are forecast for the region through August 9.

OE Frankfurt reports that postal services to Bolivia are suspended with effect from 2 August 2017. All Airlines that fly to Bolivia have currently proclaimed embargos on transport of mail due to capacity bottlenecks. All mail bound for Bolivia will be stored in the OE Frankfurt until 16 August 2017. If the situation remains unchanged, the postal items will be returned to the sender after the elapsed deadline.
