Incident Bulletin 3rd of December 2021

This week’s bulletin contains the latest information about France, French Polynesia, Spain.

France

Start date: 2 December 2021
End date: ongoing
Incident: coronavirus

The designated operator of France, La Poste, had informed us of the evolving COVID-19 situation in Guadeloupe and Martinique.

In these two departments, the introduction of curfews has slowed the spread of the virus. La Poste is, of course, complying with all the measures taken by the government to protect the health of postal workers and the population. During this year-end period, mail collection and delivery is no longer possible.

Moreover, La Poste is still not in a position to accept letter-post, parcel-post or EMS items in closed transit dispatches for either Guadeloupe or Martinique. Lastly, flights for Guadeloupe and Martinique are currently operating at full capacity and airport storage facilities are overloaded.

French Polynesia

Start date: 24 November 2021
End date: 30 November 2021
Incident: strike

The designated operator of French Polynesia, OPT-PF – Fare Rata, had informed us of the general strike action called on 24 November 2021. It has been lifted within its organization since 30 November. Postal operations have resumed as normal since.

Spain

Start date: 26 November 2021
End date: ongoing
Incident: IT issues

The designated operator of Spain, S.E. Correos y Telégrafos S.A., S.M.E., had informed us that, owing to technical issues with the system used to exchange information with the Spanish customs administration, it has not been possible to perform customs clearance procedures since 26 November. As a result, delays are expected for items received since that date.

The IT team at Correos is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
