This week’s bulletin contains the latest information about Hong Kong, Latvia, Thailand, Zimbabwe.

 

Hong Kong

Incident: typhoon

Hongkong Post, the People’s Republic of China’s designated operator for Hong Kong, asks us to inform that its mail processing (both inward and outward) and the delivery of inward mail was further interrupted by Typhoon Kompasu as of 12 October 2021.
 
Quality of service for all types of mail services is affected, and it is expected that the impact will last for at least two to three days before the backlog can be cleared. Operations will gradually resume next week
 
 

Latvia

Start date: 21 October 2021
Expected end date: 14 November 2021
Incident: coronavirus

The designated operator of Latvia, Latvijas Pasts, would like to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Latvian Government has declared a full national lockdown owing to the situation with regard to COVID-19. The lockdown will be effective from 21 October to 14 November 2021, and may subsequently be extended.
 
As a result, there may be an impact on the processing and delivery of all mail, including inbound and outbound letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items, with quality of service being affected.

 

Thailand

Start date: 1 October 2021

Incident: weather issues

The designated operator of Thailand, Thailand Post, would like to inform that the flood waters in the following postcode areas have subsided, meaning that mail operations and delivery of postal items are now back to normal : 15xxx, 21xxx, 24xxx, 32xxx, 33xxx, 34xxx, 35xxx, 37xxx, 42xxx, 62xxx, 63xxx, 64xxx, 67xxx,
 
However, the following postcode areas are still affected by the flooding, which may cause delays in mail operations and delivery of postal items:

11xxx, 12xxx, 13xxx, 14xxx, 16xxx, 18xxx, 23xxx, 25xxx, 30xxx, 36xxx, 40xxx, 44xxx, 60xxx, 61xxx, 65xxx, 66xxx, 72xxx, 73xxx
 

Zimbabwe

Start date: 11 October 2021
End date: ongoing
Incident: Disruption to Internet connectivity

The designated operator of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Posts (Pvt) Ltd (Zimpost), would like to inform that it has been experiencing Internet connectivity issues since 11 October 2021.
 
As a result of these issues, Zimpost is currently unable to access the International Postal System (IPS) central database server. Therefore, international data exchange for all mail categories is disrupted. The Global Monitoring System (GMS) gates are also affected.
 
Efforts are being made to restore the network as quickly as possible.
