Greece

The Greek seamen’s union federation (PNO) announced a 48-hour strike for all categories of ships on May 16 and 17. All ships will be docked during the strike period. Slight delays may be experienced for mail sent to Greek islands where the mail is moved by sea.

A public and a private sector union announced a 24-hour general strike to take place.
Canada

Besides Québec, flooding has also affected the provinces of Ontario, New Brunswick, and British Columbia. Canada Post reports on mail delivery disruptions in the following areas: New Brunswick: regions of Fredericton, Gagetown, Browns Flat Ontario: regions of Fitzroy Harbour, Arnprior, Rockland Québec: several regions.
USA

Until the end of this year, extensive construction and renovation work will be conducted at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). From May 15, the main runway will be completely closed for about 40 days; also thereafter, it can only be used to a limited extent. Flight delays might be possible during this period.
China

Heavy rain caused major flooding in parts of Guangdong Province. Flooding affected several districts of Guangzhou City, including Huadu, Zengcheng and Huangpu. Landslides were reported in mountainous areas outside the city. Numerous flights have been canceled from and to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) on 7 and 8 May; more than 1,000 flights were delayed.
Vanuatu

Vanuatu Post has advised that Cyclone Donna, a category 5 storm, is affecting the whole country, with airlines suspending all flights. The receipt and dispatch of all postal and courier items have been suspended.
Brazil

Brazil’s main trade unions have announced a general strike 28th April. The transport and logistic union CNTTL-CUT, also representing the aviation sector, ports and public transport, has called on its members to participate as well. Currently about 14% of the Correios (Brazilian Postal Service) workforce is affected and specific states are experiencing backlogs in the delivery of mail and parcels. The states experiencing the largest delays are: Mato Grosso, Ceara, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia and Piaui. The major cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero are experiencing only slight delays. Please expect delays in the processing and delivery of mail and parcels.
